The DV lottery 2024, known as the Diversity Visa Program, is an annual program that allows people from underrepresented nations (migration to the United States) to apply and qualify for immigrant visas. If you entered the green card lottery, you can check the results online to see if your application was successful. You will need to provide your entry confirmation number, last name, and year of birth on the DVprogram State Gov portal.

I Have Been Selected for the DV Lottery 2024 Program. What Next?

After winning the Green Card Lottery, there are still a few things that you need to check off your list before receiving your green card. Selection does not guarantee you will receive a visa. If you are selected, you will receive instructions about how to apply for an immigrant visa for yourself and eligible family members.

1. Confirm Your Qualifications

You need a high school diploma or at least two years of work experience. You will not be eligible for the Diversity Visa if you do not meet either requirement. You also need a valid passport number at the time of entry. 

2. Submit the DS-260 Form

Complete the online DS-260 application immediately to schedule an interview appointment at your appropriate U.S. embassy or consulate.

3. Supporting/Relevant Documents

Submit scanned copies of supporting documents like a birth certificate and a certificate of good conduct.

4. Interview Preparations

Prepare to attend the interview with your spouse or children applying for the diversity immigrant visa. Schedule a medical examination, gather photos and any required documents. Also, ensure that you pay the Diversity Visa fee days before the interview.

5. The Interview

During the interview, an officer will ask questions about your application and documents. At the end of the interview, the officer will let you know whether your application is approved or denied.

DV2025: Can I Apply for the DV Lottery 2025?

There is still a chance to get a visa this year. The DV lottery, DV2025, is open until November 8, 2023. The green card lottery draw will be on March 1, 2024, and the U.S. Department State will publish winners on May 8, 2024. Successful applicants must submit the necessary forms and attend interviews after this date to know if they can enter the U.S. in January 2025.

Qualifying Countries for the DV Lottery 2025 (DV2025)

Before you enter the DV2025 Green Card Lottery, you must check to see if you were born in one of the qualifying countries. These are countries with low immigration rates to the United States. If you are a native of the countries below, then you do not qualify to enter the DV2025 green card lottery program.
